Morgan is a British manufacturer of roadsters with a distinctive and classic look. Founded by H. F. S. Morgan in 1912, the first Morgan car went on sale in 1913 – a two-seater, three-wheeled vehicle.

Prior to it going on sale the Morgan car had been displayed at several shows and so impressed the managing director of Harrods at the time that the car even appeared in the shop window – the only car ever to have done so.

Since then, the head-turning has never stopped as Morgan cars evoke fascination and desire in those that see them. Looking like a sports car from the 1930’s and 1940’s, you can’t help thinking of zooming around the countryside and stopping for a picnic lunch. A car for the chaps rather than the lads, perhaps?

With Confused.com, you can get a quote that's the same as going direct to the insurer, or cheaper!

Morgan insurance groups

Typically, when it comes to insurance groups, the lower the group, the cheaper your premiums.

Our table of Morgan models lists potential engine capacity and tax brackets, and might also give you an idea of which insurance group your car is in. Remember, things like your driving history, age and address are also factors to consider when calculating a quote.

Model  Engine Capacity   Insurance Group*  Tax Bracket
4-4 1.2 - 1.8 12 - 14 F - J
Aero 4.4 - 4.8 - K - M
Plus 8
2.3 - 4.8 15 - 16 K - M
 Roadster 3.7 - K - L

*Information compiled from Parkers.co.uk. No data for Aero and Roadster car insurance groups currently available.

Morgan cars: did you know?

  • Established - 1910
  • Founder - H.F.S. Morgan
  • Headquarters - Malvern, UK

Morgan runs its own hire service, so you can try before you buy.

A 2/3 scale pedal car is available of the first iconic Morgan three wheeler. Although designed for children, you would be hard-pushed to call it a toy as it is built in the same factory as the ‘real’ cars and out of the same materials.

I have bought my car insurance (and also my sons) through Confused.com for quite a few years now. I have tried other sites, comparison and direct, but I have found your site to be the best every time.
