Learn more about Confused.com, the first ever comparison site

Who are we?

In 2002, we became the first comparison site. Our purpose? To take customers from confusion to clarity. We exist to give you the confidence to know what product or service you need and provide it for you at our best price.

Lets face it, insurance and finance can be a bit of a chore. And with all the choice and options, you don’t want to use up your time only to find out you may have done it wrong later.

That’s where Confused.com come in to help.

Why trust Confused.com?

We’re impartial and have to be. We follow the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules to ensure you get fair and honest information. Our customers are important to us, as without you we wouldn’t have a reason to exist.

We can’t recommend a company or price over another, we’re also not here to overcharge. We simply empower people to make confident decisions.

We empower you by having a fantastic team of product experts who use their understanding to get you a great deal. We also have a brilliant content team who work with our experts and put together guides and tips to make your money go further or help explain things.

It’s this, paired with our marketing that has won us awards year after year.

We’re the longest running comparison site for a reason - we adapt with what you need in an ever-changing market.

What services do Confused.com offer?

We offer a range of insurance types and financial services. From car insurance to pet insurance to mortgages.

We work with a wide range of brands, insurance companies and brokers. Everyone we work with is approved by the FCA and are regulated, see the full list of our providers.

When you get a quote, you may not see all the providers in your results. This is because your quotes are based on your personal details, so may not fit the criteria for some providers. Find out more about how comparing quotes work.

How does Confused.com make money?

After you’ve bought a policy through us, we get paid. The insurance company pays us a fee for getting them your business. The amount we get paid has no bearing on the premiums you pay or the order of your insurance results. The insurance company also don’t - and legally can’t - inflate the prices based on how much they pay us.

Whatever you do on our site, it’s always free for you to use!

What’s more, we have agreements in place with our insurers that are designed to look out for you. Our agreements make sure that the price you see on Confused.com is at least as good as what you’d see by going to the insurer. You can see how we work in more detail.

Why am I seeing a different price on your site compared to other comparison sites?

We understand that you may use our site for car insurance, for example, then go to another comparison site to see what prices they offer. If you see different prices, this isn’t cause for concern or the other site trying to get more money from you.

Every comparison site has their own quote form. As there’s slightly different questions on each, you may find that your prices differ. The same goes for any offers that might be available, these can vary, so not all sites will have the same promotions available at any one time.

How is Confused.com regulated?

Confused.com is fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), our firm reference is no. 310635. You can check this on the FCA's Register by visiting the FCA's website or by contacting the FCA on 0845 606 1234.

The FCA regulate the financial industry to protect consumers and ensure you get a fair deal. The brands we work with are also all FCA regulated.
