Who is The AA?
The AA or The Automobile Association first began in 1905 when a group of motorists came together to warn other drivers about speed traps. From humble origins, the AA has grown over the years, from just 90 members to some 14 million today.
Breakdown cover has been AA’s number one priority for some time, providing members with 24/7 roadside assistance and national recovery – its rescue vans have long been an instantly recognisable feature of the UK road landscape. The AA is now a FTSE 250 company offering a host of other services as well, from driving lessons to credit cards.
Along with car insurance, the AA offers home insurance and cover for a range of other vehicle types. They're rated Excellent on Trustpilot by their customers. The AA operates as a broker, so the underwriter of your AA car insurance policy is provided from a panel of insurers.
