What are the benefits of business broadband?

A business broadband connection can be quite different to home broadband. Most businesses will need broadband, whether it’s for running a website, or accessing email.

Typically, a business broadband connection is set up to meet the increased demands of running a business, including:

  • Higher speeds to handle the extra bandwidth demand of a full office
  • Generous usage limits (often unlimited)
  • Competitive prices that aren’t that different to domestic plans

Do I need business broadband?

There’s a number of reasons why you might need a business broadband deal, like for:

  • Email use
  • Video calls
  • Website maintenance
  • Social media
  • Business or marketing tools
  • Research/web browsing

Internet for your business doesn’t have to be expensive. Depending on your needs, you could pick a tariff which isn’t that different in price than a domestic tariff.

Video calls help you to keep in touch with colleagues or customers without having to travel long distances for meetings.

Email use is often essential for customers, suppliers or other businesses to be able to stay in touch.

Website maintenance will be required from time to time if you have a website for your business.

Social media is used for most businesses. You’ll need internet access if you have social media accounts that need to be monitored and updated.

Business or marketing tools are likely to be web-based or need access to the internet.

Research/web browsing is part of many jobs. You and your staff may need access to the internet to do your job.

What are the benefits of business broadband?

  • Better bandwidth and download speeds with your own dedicated business broadband line for you and your customers.
  • Increased security and firewalls are usually included, helping to prevent attacks like computer viruses and system hacking.
  • More services like email servers and file transfer protocol (FTP), which wouldn’t be accessible with domestic lines, as you’d need a static IP address.
