Can I get Tesco travel insurance if I have a pre-existing medical condition?

You might be able to get cover for pre-existing medical conditions as long as you declare them when you buy your policy. If you don't, your insurance will be invalid and any claims you make will be rejected.

If you can't find suitable travel cover, the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) has a directory of insurers who cover travellers with pre-existing conditions. You can find a list of insurers on the MoneyHelper website. You can also phone MaPS for free advice on 0800 138 7777.

Tesco travel insurance optional extras

Depending on what you're planning to do during your holiday, you might need additional cover. Certain activities might not be included on standard insurance due to the risks involved. Tesco Bank offers the following policy add-ons for an increased price:

Winter sports cover

If you're hitting the slopes during your trip, you might need winter sports insurance. This offers cover for injury associated with winter sports, like skiing, as well as cover for ski equipment and piste closure.

Cruise cover

Cruise cover includes things like cabin confinement due to illness, missed ports and unused excursions. It can also cover you if there are itinerary changes due to circumstances out of your control.

Golf cover

If you're going golfing during your trip, you might be taking expensive golfing equipment with you. Golf insurance provides cover for this equipment. It might also cover you if you're unable to play for an insured reason.
