Puffin travel insurance policy details
Puffin offers annual and single trip travel insurance with three levels of cover:
Silver is Puffin’s entry-level travel insurance offering.
Gold sits in the middle in terms of the cover level.
Platinum is the highest level of travel insurance cover that Puffin offers.
Here’s what you get with Puffin annual and single trip travel insurance policies:
Cancellation cover if you're forced to cancel your trip or return home earlier than planned.
This covers prepaid transport and accommodation costs, up to your benefit limit. It also covers extra travel expenses that you can't recover from any other source.
You’ll get £1500 of cancellation cover with Silver, £3000 with Gold and up to £5000 with Platinum cover.
Medical Expenses are covered up to £10 million per claim for emergency medical treatment. This also covers extra travel, accommodation and repatriation costs that you may need due to medical treatment.
You can also get up to £500 for emergency dental treatment.
Hospital Benefit can be claimed for any hospital stays while you’re away. Gold and Platinum policies, offer £50 for every 24-hours you spend in hospital, limited to £800. Silver has the same daily rate, but the limit is £600.
Covid Cover is provided, including if:
- You can’t travel due to you or a close relative contracting Covid before your travel dates
- You need emergency treatment due to Covid while abroad
- You must cut short your trip due to local authorities imposing Covid restrictions
Personal Accident means you could claim £5,000 in the event of either permanent total disablement or loss of limb(s)/eye(s). There’s also a death benefit of £5,000, or £1,000 for children aged 15 or under.
Baggage cover is up to £2,500 with the platinum policy, £2,000 with gold and £1500 with silver. This insures your belongings for accidental damage, loss and theft.
You can also claim for delayed baggage when you have to wait over 12 hours for your luggage on your outward journey. There’s up to £400 of cover with Platinum and Gold and up to £300 with Silver.
Gadget cover includes £500 of cover as standard for things like your mobile phone and laptop.
Personal money is covered for up to £400, including for theft of cash or travellers cheques. You also get £150 of cover to replace important documents like your passport.
Personal Liability covers you should someone make a legal claim against you and you’re found to be liable. You get up to £2 million of personal liability cover with all Puffin travel insurance policies.
Delayed, missed departures and travel disruption. You can claim up to £750 for missed departures with Platinum and Gold or £525 for Silver.
Platinum and Gold give you £200 of cover for delays. Silver has a £100 claim limit for delays.
Platinum gives you £5,000 of cover for travel disruption compared with £3,000 and £1,500 for Gold and Silver respectively.
Legal protection includes up to £20,000 for legal expenses and assistance with Platinum and Gold policies or £15,000 for Silver.
Excess costs for Silver premiums are generally higher than for Gold and Platinum. The excess on most types of claims is £50 with Platinum, £75 for Gold and £99 for Silver.
