What's included with RAC travel insurance
RAC single trip, annual and family travel insurance policies include:
Cancellation cover if you need to cancel your trip. This insures you up to your benefit limit for prepaid transport, accommodation, and additional travel expenses.
RAC’s Black Cover offers £7,500 of cancellation cover. You'd get £5,000 with Silver Cover and £3000 with Orange Cover.
Medical expenses provides unlimited cover for emergency medical expenses with Black Cover.
This includes additional travel, accommodation and repatriation costs than can be incurred due to the need for emergency medical treatment.
RAC’s Silver Cover and Orange Cover offer £15 million and £10 million of emergency medical cover respectively.
Hospital benefit means you can claim up to £2,000 of hospital benefit with Black Cover if you have to stay in a hospital during your trip.
The hospital benefit cover limit is £1,500 with Silver Cover and £500 if you choose Orange Cover.
Covid-19 cover as standard. RAC travel insurance covers you if:
- You have to cancel your trip due to a COVID-19 diagnosis within 14 days of departure
- You need emergency medical treatment and/or repatriation if you contract COVID-19 abroad
Personal Accident cover is designed to provide a lump sum in cases of permanent disability, loss of limbs/sight or death.
Personal Liability covers you should someone make a legal claim against you and you’re found to be liable. It includes injury to another person or damage to their property that you have caused.
Travel delay and missed departure provides cover for travel delays, missed departures and travel disruption. This includes delays resulting in you departing at least 12 hours after your original scheduled departure time.
It also covers abandonment of your trip following a 12-hour delay at your first international departure point in the UK.
You can also make a claim if public transport services fail to get you to your departure point due to a strike, industrial action, adverse weather conditions, mechanical failure or direct involvement in an accident.
Personal belongings cover provides £3,000 of cover for accidental damage, theft or loss of personal belongings during your trip with Black Cover.
Silver Cover offers up to £2,000 for personal belongings and Orange Cover offers up to £1,250.
Gadget cover will cover things like your mobile phone and laptop. Black Cover comes with £500 of gadget cover while Silver and Orange Cover both provide £250 of gadget insurance.
Personal money cover will provide £750 of cover for personal money with Black Cover, including for the theft of cash or travellers cheques.
With Silver Cover and Orange Cover, there’s £500 and £400 of personal money cover respectively.
Legal expenses will offer £25,000 of cover for legal expenses and assistance.
RAC customers save 10%. If you’ve already got RAC Breakdown Cover or RAC Car Insurance, you can save 10% on RAC travel insurance.
