Who is Zenith?
Zenith Insurance goes all the way back to 1937, when it was established as a motor syndicate at Lloyd’s of London. It has been part of the Markerstudy Group of companies since 2010.
Headquartered in Kent, Markerstudy counts over 3,500 employees, having become the UK’s fifth largest motor insurer last year with its acquisition of the Co-op Insurance underwriting business.
Alongside Zenith Insurance, other brands under the Markerstudy umbrella include Brightside Insurance, Insurance Factory, Auto Windscreens and Geoffrey Insurance.
Apart from car insurance, the only other product offered under the Zenith brand is van insurance, remaining true to its historic focus on the motor insurance space. However, Zenith recognises that the way insurance is handled has changed significantly and today ensures customers have a choice of how to access its products. So you can take out Zenith insurance through a broker or intermediary, by phone or via leading websites.
Zenith car insurance policy details
Zenith provides two types of car insurance cover: third-party, fire and theft and comprehensive cover.
Zenith offers some attractive enhanced features on both its comprehensive and third-party, fire and theft cover as standard, though you get more extras included in the price with its comprehensive policy, such as guaranteed repairs for three years and windscreen cover. You can also choose from some decent optional extras as well, including five levels of RAC breakdown cover.
Third-party, fire and theft (TPFT) cover, means you get protection for your vehicle against damage caused by fire and theft, in addition to the third-party cover that is the absolute minimum legal requirement to drive on UK roads. The third-party element covers damage to other people’s vehicles and property as well as any injuries they suffer in an accident you're involved in. Zenith’s TPFT cover comes with some additional benefits as well including:
- Damage to other people’s cars or property
- Injury to other people
- Repair or replacement of your car if it is damaged by fire
- Repair or replacement of your car if it is stolen or damaged by theft
- In-car entertainment cover
- Cover to drive your car in Europe for up to 60 days
- Access to 24/7 emergency helpline
- Courtesy car
- Choice of excess.
Comprehensive cover from Zenith gives you everything you get with Zenith’s TPFT policy, but also means you and your vehicle are insured even for accidents where you are to blame. Alongside all the benefits and cover provided by TPFT, Zenith’s comprehensive policy gives you:
- Repair or replacement of your car if it is damaged accidentally – even if it was your fault
- Guaranteed repairs for three years if using a Zenith approved repairer
- Personal belongings cover
- Windscreen repair or replacement
- Replacement locks cover.
Zenith offers a selection of car insurance policies and types. Not all policies and types are available through our site, so the exact levels of cover and benefits may vary. Before buying car insurance, we recommend you check the cover and benefits included.
