Privilege car insurance policy details
Privilege offer three types of car insurance cover: Third Party Fire and Theft, Comprehensive, and Comprehensive Plus.
Third-Party, Fire and Theft
With Privilege's most basic level of cover, you'll get all the usual benefits of third party, fire and theft insurance. This covers you if you damage someone's car or property, or injure someone in an accident. It also covers you if your car gets stolen or damaged by fire.
Privilege can also give you a courtesy car if yours is being fixed by one of their approved repairers. Though this is subject to availability.
Comprehensive
Privilege's comprehensive car insurance policies offer a number of benefits, as standard. These include:
- Courtesy car: If your car gets fixed by one of Privilege's approved repairers, they'll give you a car to use in the meantime.
- Uninsured driver promise: Being hit by an uninsured driver is always a bit of a nightmare. If the accident isn't your fault, Privilege will cover your excess and protect your no-claims discount. You'll need to get the driver's reg, make and model of the other car. And the other driver's details (if possible) to make a claim.
- Guaranteed repairs: Getting your car fixed by Privilege's approved repairers comes with another benefit. They'll guarantee the work for five years.
- Personal accident cover: You, and your spouse/partner, will be insured up to £5,000.
- Foreign use: You can also add Foreign Usage Cover as an optional extra. This covers you for 90 days if you use your car abroad. You'll have to pay extra for this, but it's worth considering if you want to drive abroad.
Comprehensive Plus
This is Privilege's highest level of cover. It's fairly similar to their comprehensive policies, but with higher limits and a few added extras. Let's take a look:
- Guaranteed hire car plus: If your car is being repaired by one of Privilege's approved mechanics, they'll offer you a hire car similar to your own. You'll be able to drive this until yours is fixed. Prefer to use your own repairer? You'll still get a hire car for up to 21 days in a row. Same goes if your car's been written off or stolen.
- Uninsured driver promise: If an uninsured driver hits your car and it wasn't your fault, comprehensive plus can cover you. It'll also protect your no-claims bonus, and cover your excess too. Again, make sure to to get the other driver's details if you can. You'll also need to get the reg, make and model of the other car.
- Personal accident cover: With comprehensive plus, you and your partner/spouse can be covered up to the value of £10,000.
- Motor legal cover: Privilege can cover legal costs up to £100,000. This could be to help you claim for repairs, lost earnings, and personal injury, after an accident that wasn't your fault. But take note: There must be more than a 50% chance your claim will be successful to get cover.
- Automatic foreign use: Privilege's overseas cover will give you comprehensive cover for up to 90 days when driving abroad.
