Customers of EDF Energy have been told their standard gas bills will be cut by 4% from March 26.
The company said around 1.5 million of its customers will benefit from the reduction.
Scottish Power has also announced reductions in gas bills, as it cuts its prices by 8% on average on March 31. It is the final one of the so-called big six energy corporations to cut the price charged for gas this year, in response to demands to cut bills for customers when the price of energy came down last year.
Scottish Power, which said its reduction will affect 1.6 million customers, is owned by Spanish group Iberdrola. It was heavily criticised for not passing on savings in the wholesale price of gas to its customers, especially when it announced its profits had went up by 7.9% last year.
The firm has not cut standard customer gas bills since early last year.
EDF said its gas-only customers will see an overall 6.9% reduction since October 2009.
