How to drive in snow and ice

Snow and ice has caused havoc on our roads with many drivers finding it difficult to control their vehicles.

One of the points raised in the recent, and ongoing, government inquiry into rising motor insurance costs, was that drivers should undergo more training before they get behind the wheel.

Experts argued that better training and a more advanced driving test would reduce the number of road accidents, cut claims and as a result lower the cost of motor insurance for everyone.

In view of this,  we took up a challenge with Drive Tech Ltd, a Wiltshire based driving experience centre, to have a go on their skid pan; -a piece of road specially prepared with water and a non-toxic agent to simulate slippery road conditions.

The course is led by qualified instructors, who also happen to be ex-policemen and have seen firsthand the dangers caused by inexperienced drivers.
