1. What is DriveReview?
DriveReview is a feature within the Confused.com app that allows you to record individual journeys and receive a score based on your driving behaviour. When you activate DriveReview at the start of a trip, the app uses your device's GPS and sensors to measure indicators such as speed, acceleration, braking and cornering. At the end of the trip, you receive a score reflecting how that journey went.
DriveReview is currently in beta. This means it is still being developed and tested. Features may change, and scores may not always be accurate or complete.
2. Eligibility
DriveReview is only available to you if:
- you are aged 18 or over;
- you hold a full driving licence that is valid in the United Kingdom; and
- you are using DriveReview for your own personal use (see section 3 below).
By using DriveReview, you confirm that you meet these requirements. If you do not, you must not use DriveReview.
3. Personal use only
DriveReview is for your personal use only. You must not use it for any commercial or business purpose, including to monitor or assess the driving of any other person on behalf of a business or employer.
4. What DriveReview does not do
Your DriveReview:
- does not affect your insurance premiums in any way - it is provided for information purposes only and has no connection to any insurance product, quote or policy on Confused.com or elsewhere;
- cannot be used as evidence in, or in support of, any insurance claim - you must not attempt to use it for this purpose; and
- is not a record of your legal compliance with road traffic laws.
5. Accuracy of scores
DriveReview scores are generated using GPS data from your device. They are indicative only and may not fully or accurately reflect your actual driving behaviour. Factors outside our control, including GPS signal quality, device type, tunnels and road conditions, can affect the data we collect and the score we generate.
You should not rely on your DriveReview score as a definitive or complete assessment of your driving. We accept no liability for any decision you make on the basis of your score.
6. Your responsibilities when using DriveReview
By activating DriveReview, you confirm that:
- You will not handle, use or interact with your phone in any way while driving. This includes starting, stopping or checking DriveReview. You must only activate and deactivate the tool when it is safe and legal to do so, for example before you set off or after you have parked.
- You accept that you are solely responsible for driving safely and lawfully at all times. DriveReview does not affect and is not a substitute for your own judgement and legal obligations as a driver.
- You will only record trips where you are the driver of the vehicle.
- You will ensure you have the legal right to drive the vehicle used during the recorded trip.
The Main Terms' provisions on your responsibility to provide accurate information, and our liability to you, apply equally to your use of DriveReview.
7. Permissions and data
DriveReview requires your device’s location permissions to be enabled in order to function. For full details of how we collect, use and store your data when you use DriveReview, please read our Privacy Notice.
8. Changes and availability
As DriveReview is in beta, we may change, suspend or withdraw it at any time without notice. We will not be liable to you if DriveReview is unavailable, inaccurate or discontinued.
We may update these additional terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email. Your continued use of DriveReview after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
9. General
All other provisions of the Main Terms, including those relating to our liability, intellectual property, complaints and governing law, continue to apply to your use of DriveReview. These additional terms were last updated: 23rd June 2026.
