THE ULTIMATE LOSS
Sci-Fi Characters Who Survived Their Planets’ Destruction
It’s a popular theme laced throughout science fiction movies and television shows: characters who survive the loss and utter destruction of their own planets. Here’s a look at some of the most notable sci-fi survivors.
SECTION 1: ANNIHILATION
What counts as “destruction” of a planet?
1. EXPLOSION. The planet suddenly explodes and is officially destroyed.
2. WAR. The planet is rendered instantly uninhabitable, from a nuclear war, etc., causing the characters or other survivors to search for a new planet to reside.
3. GRADUAL. The planet’s environment caused the destruction of its lifeforms, leaving a lone survivor, and is seen as uninhabitable and officially destroyed.
