By the end of 2015, the average UK rental value stood at £743 per month. We take a look at how far £700 will stretch in 11 different cities across the UK.

1. Manchester

  • For £700 per month, you could live in this fully furnished, one bedroom apartment that's less than a mile from Manchester Piccadilly station.
  • Surrounded by canals on three sides, have you ever seen a cooler apartment block than this?

2. Liverpool

  • This Georgian terraced house is full of character from the outside, but offers contemporary living on the inside.
  • £700 per month will get you an open-plan living area, two bedrooms, and even your own garden. 
  • And for you frequent jet-setters – it's only seven miles from Liverpool's John Lennon Airport. 

3. Cardiff

  • Plus it's just a 15-minute drive away from the city centre. What more could you want for £695 per month?
  • It comes unfurnished, so unfortunately the fluffy cushions won't be included.

  • It's modern throughout, but also features a wood-burning stove and exposed beams - not to mention a spiral staircase that makes this crib stand out from the crowd. 

5. Glasgow

  • And there's a swimming pool in your apartment block. Enough said.

6. Nottingham

  • This two bedroom, terraced house could be yours for £688 per month. Not a bad price for a brand new house, right?
  • This property benefits from a driveway, rear garden, and an integrated garage. And Nottingham city centre is just 15 minutes away by rail and road.

7. Edinburgh

    • For £695 you could get this furnished one-bedroom flat with double windows that look out onto the famous Royal Mile, situated right in the heart of Edinburgh. 
    • Location, location, location. This property is a winner - it's within walking distance of the city centre, so you'll have restaurants, shops and bars at your fingertips. 

8. Bristol

9. Sheffield

    • At £640 per month, this fourth-floor property comes with high-quality furnishings, lift access and a communal laundry room.

10. Birmingham

  • This one-bedroom apartment has great views across the city, a 24-hour concierge and secure parking.

11. London

  • So last - but definitely not the least expensive - is the bustling capital. In London, you'll more than likely get a room just like this one.
  • It's described as "bright and airy" and is part of a flatshare, just a short walk from London Bridge station with transport links to all parts of the city.
  • But there's nothing bright about this room. Or the fact you'll be sharing a bathroom, lounge and kitchen with strangers, and pay £650 a month for the privilege.
