Has your spare room been neglected? Is it in need of a bit of TLC?

It’s probably the smallest room in the house, but that spare room could be the additional space you’ve been craving. And it's right at your fingertips.

You just need to know what to do with it.

If you work from home or bring work home with you occasionally , you can create a comfortable, organised office room.

A corner desk is an efficient way to make the most of your space.

Why not put up a shelving unit to show off your book collection or holiday souvenirs you’ve collected over the years.

Plus, you can always make room for a sofa bed if you need somewhere for guests to sleep.

2. The walk-in wardrobe

You could have specialists in to do the work, or spend an afternoon building your own Ikea wardrobe at a lower cost.

Just remember to use a measuring tape and follow the instructions to avoid any serious DIY fails.

Ladies, don’t feel left out. There’s no reason why you can’t create a den of your own, you’ll soon be fighting over that spare room.

4. The guest bedroom

You could go down the traditional route and keep your spare room as a guest bedroom, for when you have visitors to stay

Declutter other areas of the house by putting extra storage in this room.

Be careful not to get into the habit of throwing things in and closing the door, or you'll be back to square one.

The best part is, you can still use it as a laundry room when you don't have visitors.
