How much does a Lexus cost to insure?

How much your insurance costs depends on both your car and your personal circumstances.

Here's some key factors that can influence your premium:

  • Where you live. Areas with higher crime rates or busy roads could lead to higher insurance premiums.
  • Your age. Younger drivers typically pay more due to a higher perceived risk.
  • The car you drive. More powerful or expensive Lexus models usually cost more to insure.
  • Claims history. A history of claims can increase your insurance costs.
  • Your occupation. Some jobs might be considered riskier than others, which can impact your premium.

The best way to find out how much you'll pay is to get a quote. But, to give you an idea, here's the average insurance prices for some of the most popular Lexus models:

Model Average quote
GS 250 F Sport

ES Hybrid 300H

How can I save on my Lexus car insurance?

Here's a few ways you might be able to bring your Lexus premium down:

Pay annually

If you can, pay for your insurance annually instead of in monthly payments. Monthly payments often come with added interest, making them more expensive in the long run.

Estimate your mileage correctly

Be as accurate as possible when estimating your annual mileage. Overestimating can mean paying more than necessary, while underestimating could invalidate your policy. Your coverage is based on the mileage you declare when getting a quote.

Improve your car’s security

Enhancing your car's security can help lower your insurance premium. If possible, park your Lexus in a driveway or garage when not in use. Installing security features, like a fitted alarm, can also reduce risk in the eyes of your insurer.

Build up your No claims bonus (NCB)

Going at least 12 months without making a claim can earn you a NCB, which could reduce your insurance costs. The longer you stay claim-free, the bigger the discount. In some cases, you may even be able to transfer your NCB to a new insurer!

Shop around and compare prices

When you run a quote, we'll show quotes from a range of car insurance providers. The way to find the best deal for your needs and budget is to compare car insurance quotes.

Add a named driver

Know an experienced driver with a clean claims record willing to drive your car now and then? If you add a driver to your policy, you might find that your policy premium is cheaper.

Increase your voluntary excess

This is the amount you agree to pay out to your insurer if you make a claim. If you agree to pay more, you might find your insurer offers you a reduced policy cost! Just make sure the amount you're willing to pay is affordable to you.

What insurance group is my Lexus in?

Your Lexus will fall into 1 of the 50 insurance groups. The higher the group, the more expensive it is to insure. Lexus models often sit in the higher groups—but, why? Here's some of the key factors that affect where your Lexus lands:

  • Car value. Expensive cars are usually placed in higher insurance groups.
  • Repair costs. If your Lexus is costly to repair, it will likely be in a higher group.
  • Performance. Faster cars with quick acceleration, like your Lexus, are usually considered higher risk. This often means they're placed in a higher group.
  • Safety features. The more security tech your Lexus has, the better! Anti-theft features can help lower its insurance group.

What car insurance can I get for my Lexus?

There's 3 levels of insurance coverage you can choose from for your Lexus:

  • Third-party: This is the legal minimum level of car insurance for driving in the UK. It covers injuries to third parties and damage to their vehicles, but that's it. You won't be covered for any damage to your Lexus, injuries to you or your passengers, or theft and fire damage.
  • Third-party, fire and theft: A step up from third-party only. This insurance covers third-party claims for damage or injury and also protects your Lexus against theft and fire damage. But, it won't cover repairs if your car is damaged in an accident, nor will it cover personal injuries for you or your passengers.
  • Fully comprehensive car insurance: This is the highest level of cover available, and often the cheapest! It includes everything in third-party, fire and theft, plus it covers damage to your own car and injuries to you and your passengers. Your Lexus will also be protected against theft and fire

What additional cover can I get for my Lexus?

Did you know you can add specialist extras to your policy? These add-ons come at an extra cost, but they can provide valuable coverage. Here's some common options you might like to look into:

Legal protection

Motor legal protection can cover legal expenses if you're involved in an accident. For example, if another driver crashes into your Lexus and you get injured, legal cover can help you take them to court to recover costs.

Personal accident cover

This can provide financial support if you're seriously injured or die due to a car accident. Some policies also cover life-changing injuries, such as permanent disability, with a fixed payout for specific conditions.

Breakdown cover

If your Lexus breaks down, this cover gets you moving again. A mechanic will either fix your car roadside or tow it to a garage. You can choose between:

  • Personal cover. This covers you, rather than a specific car. So, you'll be covered no matter what vehicle you're driving, so long as it meets your policy's requirements.
  • Vehicle cover. This covers a specific vehicle, or multiple vehicles at the same address.

Windscreen cover

A chipped or cracked windscreen can be expensive to fix! Windscreen cover helps with repair or replacement costs, so it's worth considering.

Recovery to a charge point

Drive a hybrid or all-electric Lexus? If you're comparing electric car insurance for your Lexus, you might want to consider add-ons designed specifically for your vehicle. Charge point recovery works like breakdown cover, ensuring your Lexus is towed to the nearest charging station if you run out of battery mid-drive. Other useful add-ons, like cover for your charging cables, might also be worth considering.
