Princess Cruises will no longer stop in the Mexican port of Puerto Vallata because of concerns over violence in the surrounding areas.

Port director Alex Casarrubias said he was not aware of any cruises being cancelled and the local port authorities also said they had not been contacted by the cruise company, which is a brand of Carnival Corporation.

But Karan Candy, spokeswoman for Princess Cruises, said the ships would no longer dock in Ensenada or Cabo San Lucas due to concerns over security in the vicinity.

It comes after other cruise ships cancelled calls in nearby port Mazatlan.
