If feeling depressed after being on holiday was an Olympic event, the UK might be in line for a place on the medals podium.
According to the TripAdvisor website, about four-fifths of people living in the UK feel blue and stressed after a holiday, a bigger proportion than any other country in Europe.
The European post-holiday depression average is 69 per cent, the firm said.
People in Spain seem least likely to be depressed after returning from abroad, with a 61 per cent rate recorded by the site.
TripAdvisor says it surveyed 4,097 travellers, 1,304 of whom live in the UK.
It showed that the pre-holiday stress level of 57 per cent of people returned within one month of them being home. The proportion for the UK however was 75 per cent.
Meanwhile, the website said that around 7 per cent of UK workers phone in sick immediately after returning from a holiday.
