Fancy escaping the UK this winter? We’ve put together some ideas to help you narrow down your perfect holiday search.

The Algarve, Portugal

A beautiful beach in the Algarve

If you want some sun this winter but don’t fancy going long haul then The Algarve can offer a reprieve from the UK’s cold snap, in less than 3 hours’ flight time. Famous for its sprawling coastline The Algarve offers beaches to die for – with Blue Flag awards to prove it.

The weather peaks during the summer and can cool off towards November, but you can still expect temperatures of about 18°s this time of year.  The Mediterranean climate makes the region perfect for walking, cycling and surfing. It’s also famed for some of the world’s best golf courses in Vilamoura and lively nightlife in Albufeira.

And if you like seafood then The Algarve is one of the best places to find it thanks to the 200 kilometre coastline, which serves up fresh fish daily.

So if you’re sold on the mild temperatures and fantastic fish then take a look at our Algarve deals for early next year, starting from £161 per person.

Caribbean cruises

Time for a cruise

One of the best ways to escape the wind and rain of Britain’s winter months is to take to the seas on a cruise. Particularly in the Caribbean.

It’s a luxurious way to see some of the world’s most beautiful beaches but it doesn’t have to cost a fortune with some of these great offers on Caribbean cruises.

Take in islands like the Dominican Republic, St. Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia, Trinidad, Tobago and Grenada and bask on board your liner in temperatures of up to 40°s in some places and not dipping below late 20°s on average.

And with prices from £899 per person for 15 nights it could be a dream holiday come true. Check out our bargains with Fred Olsen Cruise Lines here.

The Gambia

A beach in Gambia

The smallest country on mainland Africa, the Gambia has soared in popularity with tourists seeking some winter sun over recent years. It now boasts some luxury resorts, and is possibly best known for its stunning scenery and welcoming people.

Temperatures get up into the early 30˚s during the winter months. Plus you can go on wildlife tours to see monkeys, baboons, crocodiles and all sorts of other fascinating creatures. And if a long flight time is your main concern, don’t worry, The Gambia is not as far away as you might think – you should be able to fly there in under six hours.
