Holidaymakers 'Opt For Same Resort'

People seem to dislike staying at different places when travelling abroad, with more than one in three holidaymakers choosing the same resort every year, a new study has indicated.

Choosing a particular holiday destination every year should also help holidaymakers opt for the right kind of travel insurance.

Research by travel agent sunshine.co.uk showed out of the 36 per cent of holidaymakers who favour going to the same destination each year, more than a fifth opt for the same hotel.

The concern that a different holiday destination would fail to live up to their favourite location is the main factor that makes people stay loyal to a particular resort. Nearly 25 per cent of those surveyed said they dislike change.

However, 11 per cent of those who responded to the poll said they always visited a new place, stating the desire "to see the world" as the main reason for it. Also, returning to the same destination each year could be boring, they said.

Sunshine.co.uk founder Chris Brown said: "It seems a lot of people can't break the habit of going to the same resort, or even the same hotel, every year, predominately because they don't like change.

"It's understandable that many are wary of trying somewhere new, as once you like a certain resort, the next place you visit has a lot to live up to."
