Fans Jailed For Dressing As Nuns

Travel insurance brokers are warning that the habits of a lifetime - and dressing as a nun - are not the sort of thing the Greeks are happy to put up with.

This is after 17 drunken British football fans holidaying at the Crete resort of Malia learned the hard way that pretending to be a bride of Christ can land you in jail in certain parts of the world.

That, and the fact that they were also wearing scanty women`s knickers, meant a night in the cells and a red-faced dressing down for scandalising the locals.

But after laying down the law, the prosecutor court let the members of The Hanham Sunday Tour - aged 18 to 60 - off with a stern warning.

The tour is an annual holiday started in the Sixties by the Sunday league team, which now plays in the Bristol Sunday League Premier division.

In previous years the current and former footballers of Hanham Athletic and Hanham's Sunday league team have dressed up as St Trinians schoolgirls in Portugal and babies in Cyprus.
