Key Events Timeline
- 1998 - EBICo founded
- 1999 - First product launched: EQUIGAS, the company's gas initiative, supplies lower priced gas to domestic pre-payment meter (PPM) customers. EQUIGAS was devised to be of particular benefit to low-income PPM households by sharing in the discounts offered to customers paying by Direct Debit.
- 2002 - EQUIPOWER launched: the company's electricity product was inspired by the success of EQUIGAS
- 2005 - EQUICLIMATE launched: this green energy service enabled individuals, homes and businesses to use the European CO2 market to offset their carbon footprint.
EBICo achieved 'best-buy' status for both its EQUICLIMATE CO2 offsetting tariff, and EQUIGAS, its domestic gas tariff, in Ethical Consumer Magazine. Of the nine gas supply services reviewed, only EQUIGAS scored points for Product Sustainability, and the magazine also awarded EBICo's company ethos joint-top marks.
