Managing Director has lunch with the Queen | Cheap Car Insurance and Home Insurance from Confused.com
Debra Williams, Managing Director of Confused.com and 2006 winner of the Women in Innovation Award (Welsh Woman of the Year Awards), will today attend a prestigious lunchtime reception hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace. The event, which recognises those who have made a significant contribution to business, will bring together 200 women from all sectors across the UK to celebrate their achievements.
Commenting on her invite, Debra, who heads up Cardiff based Confused.com, the UK's leading insurance search service, said: 'It's an incredible honour and one which I'm proud to receive. I'm particularly looking forward to meeting the Queen as well as some of the most influential female business leaders in the UK. The whole team are behind me and I know there'll be a lot of questions when I get back!'
A Welsh woman born and bred Debra's career has taken her around the world. Raised in Neath, West Glamorgan her travels first took her to Enfield, where she joined Lombard's graduate training scheme. She's since worked in New York, Sydney, Hong Kong and Milan, picking up the globally recognised Project Management Professional (PMP) American Masters Certificate at George Washington University along the way.
Debra returned to Wales to raise her now four-year-old daughter within the Welsh culture. True to her roots, Debra's great passion is rugby and she regularly attends local games with her family.
In 2005 Debra joined Confused.com as Managing Director. Since its launch Confused.com has grown at an astonishing rate and has helped its customers save billions of pounds by switching to cheaper insurers. As a result staff levels have ballooned from a team of eight pioneers to an army of fifty-three who are now engaged in developing a range of new services due for launch later this year.
