The holiday firm Hayes & Jarvis has announced that the USA is proving a hit destination, with its bookings taking a surge.
It said Autumn and Christmas trips are selling well, while demand is rising for Las Vegas holidays. It also said this may lead to a rise in sales for the travel insurance industry.
The travel company, Travel Counsellors has reported a 41% increase in business for the festive period compared to the previous year. Orlando in Florida is proving one of its most popular destinations.
Hayes & Jarvis said USA breaks are "selling like hot cakes" and that other popular long-haul destinations at present include Thailand, Mauritius, the Maldives and Antigua.
The company's commercial director Niel Alobaidi said: "This does indicate that confidence is returning to the market and people are keen to take advantage of some quite lucrative early-booking incentives."
Travel Counsellors managing director, Steve Byrne said: "We have seen a dramatic increase in sales throughout September as people look ahead of the doom and gloom and decide its time to invest in a holiday.
"Sales overall in September were up 14%, with the most dramatic increase in people booking to go away over Christmas. We are also seeing more people booking for their summer holidays next year, with a 10% increase in bookings made in September for the 2010 summer period.
"These are all very promising signs and reflect the current reports that things are picking up in the current climate."
