Motorbike insurance providers may experience a rush of enquiries after Honda launched its new 125cc PCX scooter - which it claims can achieve 130mpg.
The PCX has a similar appearance to many other modern scooters. Powered by a 125cc four-stroke engine, it has under-seat storage that can accommodate a full-face helmet.
It also has automatic, twist-and-go transmission.
However it is the headline economy figure - partly achieved by a new idle stop switch system - that sets this apart from other 125cc machines.
When this is enabled, the engine will stop after three seconds of idling, but starts automatically as soon as the rider twists the throttle open again. Honda claims the system improves economy by up to 5%.
The PCX125 is in showrooms now, and costs £2,270.
