A rare 1937 Bugatti is to be sold at auction after relatives of a deceased doctor found it in his garage in Newcastle after his death.
The Bugatti Type 57S Atalante, which is said to be worth between £2.75 million and £4 million and requires a car insurance policy fit for a king, is one of just 17 built by the car manufacturer and only a few people knew that Dr Harold Carr owned the classic car.
The coveted motor is even more valuable as it was previously owned by Earl Howe, a prominent British race car driver.
The car, which was found in a garage in Gosforth, had not been driven by the bachelor, who died in June 2007 aged 89, since 1960 and it was among a selection of other classic vehicles found.
It is now on display in Hartney Wintney, Hampshire, but will be sold at Bonhams' Retromobile sale in Paris on February 7.
The 130mph car had been left to Dr Carr's nephews and nieces.
