Fears over faulty accelerator pedals have led Toyota to recall more than 180,000 cars.
The world's biggest car maker said 180,865 UK vehicles might be affected by the problem - which involves the accelerator foot pedal sticking.
The move is part of a wider global recall of 1.8 million cars across Europe and millions more in the US and Japan. Toyota said the accelerator pedals on seven models may get stuck. The affected UK models are the iQ, Aygo, Yaris, Auris, Corolla, Avensis and Verso.
The firm is writing to owners to arrange repairs - which are believed to take just 30 minutes. However, the first batches of new parts are not expected to arrive for up to a week - with the first repairs due to take place on February 10.
Toyota warned people against trying to fix the problem independently, saying that anyone with a sticky accelerator pedal should contact the firm.
