Moustache grower's guide to Movember

Every November, thousands of men across the world sprout moustaches in aid of Movember, the campaign which aims to raise funds for and awareness of men’s health issues.

For the 30 days of the month, the men - known as Mo Bros - effectively become walking, talking billboards for the often ignored subjects of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's mental health.

Since a small group of friends started the moustache-growing movement in Melbourne, Australia, in 2003, it has become an international event.

Now in 2013, there are official Movember campaigns in 21 countries and last year more than £92 million was raised globally.

To inspire you to take part in this extremely worthwhile event this year, we've put together our very own moustache grower's style guide.

How to take part

To take part you must first register at Movember.com. You can enter as an individual, or as a team.

The rules state each Mo Bro must begin Movember with a clean-shaven face on the first of the month.

He must then grow and groom a moustache, while conducting himself like a true gentleman.

It then gets quite technical: there is to be no joining of the mo to the sideburns – that’s considered a beard – and there’s to be no joining of the handlebars to the chin, which is considered a goatee.

So go on, why don't you give it a go!
