30 years of No Smoking Day in pictures

For 30 years, No Smoking Day posters have encouraged people to kick the habit. Here we take a look at 12 of the most creative images.

On 12 March millions of smokers will try to quit as part of the British Heart Foundation's No Smoking Day.

One of the UK's biggest annual health awareness campaigns, the event has been running since Ash Wednesday in 1983, when it was called Quit For The Day.

No Smoking Day is entirely redesigned and re-launched each year with a fresh theme and a new-look poster heading the campaign.

Here we take a look back at 12 of the best from the past 30 years.

Every year more than a million smokers use No Smoking Day to try to quit.

If you want help to give up smoking, you can find out more on the Help To Quit pages of the No Smoking Day website.
