The Consumer Credit Counselling Service has revealed that almost a third of those who contacted it in the first 6 months of 2011 were in fuel poverty*. Bill protection is another name for short term income protection. This type of insurance pays you a monthly benefit (amount decided by you when you take the policy out) to help you cover bills for up to 24 months. You could use this payment to cover utility bills, council tax bills or any credit card or loan repayments.
