Homeowners and businesses in parts of Yorkshire have been warned to brace themselves for flooding.
The Environment Agency has made sure residents in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and Bridlington, East Yorkshire, are on high alert after heavy rain at the start of the week.
Meanwhile, warnings also went out for coastal regions of Cornwall, Devon and parts of Wales.
This follows on from Cornwall Council's highways and environment services department being inundated with more than 300 calls about severe weather on Monday. Problems ranged from fallen trees, to blocked drains and surface water flooding.
A spokesman from the Press Association's weather division, MeteoGroup, said: "The heavy rain we had in the South and the South West yesterday has pushed north-eastwards across England and Wales into southern Scotland overnight.
"Any lingering rain across England and Wales will clear this morning, but across northern and eastern Scotland it will linger for much of the day. There will be some heavy and prolonged outbursts there.
"Following that rain there will be sunny spells and showers, some of which will be quite heavy, and possibly some lightning strikes."
