The Environment Agency has said that parts of the country are at risk of flooding.
It said that parts of Lincolnshire, northern England and Nottinghamshire are at a low-risk of being hit with floods amid torrential rain.
The call comes as heavy rain is forecast for much of Britain, with the Met Office issuing severe weather warnings.
Forecasters said that people in northern and eastern England will see a day of slow-moving showers, while those in Scotland can expect to see the back of heavy showers and thunder during the morning.
An Environment Agency spokesman said: "Met Office and Environment Agency staff are on 24-hour alert as slow-moving heavy and thundery showers develop over eastern and northern parts of the country.
"The public are encouraged to tune in to local media for weather forecasts for their area and to keep an eye out for signs of flash flooding."
