The average clear-up spend on damage caused to houses thanks to out-of-control teen parties is £162, according to an insurance provider.
Allianz Your Cover urged parents to be vigilant after finding that 14% of them had suffered damage at the family home thanks to festive over-exuberance.
The £162 fix-up costs marked a £45 increase on similar research carried out last year. Clearing up general rubbish and mess is the biggest headache for householders, while broken furniture, stained carpets and burns to upholstery also feature highly on the list of woe.
Parties hosted by boys are most likely to lead to furniture being broken, while girls' bashes are twice as likely to lead to more general rubbish. The study of 2,000 UK parents with children aged between 11 and 18 also suggested that they are not monitoring whether their offspring are organising parties online as closely as they have previously.
Andy James of Allianz Your Cover said: "By being vigilant to their teenager's behaviour, parents can avoid being the unlucky owner of a home ravaged by a teen party."
