Does Cheapest Mean Best?

Not necessarily – don’t just automatically choose the company with the cheapest quote. If saving money is your main concern, the cheapest policy could prove to be a false economy.

As with all things – you get what you pay for. The cheapest insurance is likely to have less cover, which may leave you cursing your thriftiness on discovering you’re not actually covered for this or that when making a claim somewhere down the line.

Also, volunteering to pay a higher level of excess insurance will reduce your premiums, but any savings could be eaten away if something goes wrong at your property. That’s because higher voluntary excess means a higher costs to you in the event of a claim. And of course, you won’t be able to claim at all if any repairs or replacements will cost less than the level of voluntary excess.

Can I DIY?
