EDF Energy is set to increase its gas prices by 15.4 per cent later this autumn, the firm has announced.

November 10 will see the introduction of the higher tariffs, with electricity bills also set to go up by 4.5 per cent on average.

The changes follow increases in wholesale energy and network costs.

With winter approaching, all of the country's "big six" energy firms have now increased their costs for households.

The pricing decision has been made with reluctance, according to Vincent de Rivaz, chief executive of EDF Energy.

He said the firm's nuclear energy sourcing enabled EDF to delay the introduction of the price rise.

Householders who are on a dual fuel tariff are now likely to see their bills increase by a daily amount of 33p.

Meanwhile, a yearly bill of £1,165 will face those on standard dual-fuel deals who pay by direct debit.

Beat the price rises!

All of the Big 6 energy companies have hiked prices. Now all the price rises have been announced, switch to a fixed or capped deal to beat higher bills.
