The Carbon Monoxide Be Alarmed! Campaign have estimated that as many as 81% of households in the UK don't have an audible CO alarm. So quite a lot, then.
And the trouble with carbon monoxide is... well, there are lots of troubling things about carbon monoxide. It has no odour, no taste, and it's invisible to the naked eye. Plus it can't be easily self-diagnosed, as there are a wide range of potential symptoms associated with CO poisoning.
And it can be fatal. Some victims of carbon monoxide poisoning claim that survival is even worse.
