Nearly all young motorists feel that the cost of car insurance is pricing them off the roads, a survey claims.
The poll by the House of Commons Transport Committee said up to 21 per cent of the young drivers quizzed have thought of driving with no insurance.
It questioned 1,127 young motorists and showed 96 per cent feel youngsters are being forced off the roads by costs, with 30 per cent having considered going for a more favourable quote by changing the information they give to insurance companies.
More than half of those polled do not know that firms often pass on the personal details of customers to a solicitor, car hire firm or garage for a referral fee.
Committee chairman Louise Ellman, the Labour MP for Liverpool Riverside, said she is very concerned over the results.
Mrs Ellman added it was shocking that so many young motorists have considered breaking the law for a lower premium.
