A new service has been launched aimed at helping the police to recover stolen vehicles more quickly.

Tracker Check from Tracker provides the police with direct web access to its information.

The service has already helped police in Manchester to track down a stolen Audi within 10 minutes.

The launch of Tracker Check means police officers picking up a signal from a stolen vehicle can view remotely any information Tracker stores on the vehicle and the circumstances of its theft.

More significantly, once a stolen vehicle signal has been picked up police can speed up the frequency of the signal making tracking faster and easier.

Stuart Chapman, Tracker's police relationship manager, said: "Previously police had to telephone Tracker to request details of a stolen vehicle.

"Now police forces can simply log onto a secure web link to gain access to our own technology and do everything they need remotely."
