Insurance brokers, driving instructors, personal injury solicitors, government representatives and members of the community will join forces in Bradford to tackle the City’s sky-high car insurance costs.

Speaking to Confused.com Bradford East MP David Ward said he plans to set up a ‘working group’ to help cut the rocketing car insurance costs plaguing drivers in the area.

In the last two years alone car cover has risen by an average of 62.8 per cent in the city, making it the most expensive car insurance area in Britain.

A high number of uninsured drivers and personal injury claims in the City are blamed for the soaring costs but Ward and his team have stepped in to deal with the situation.

“The main thing we’re going to do is set up a working group to bring about changes,” he said. “We can’t just sit and do nothing.

“I’ll be meeting with a lot of people to set this up. We’ll cover this from all angles then go back to Westminster and see what we can do.”

The move follows a report Ward and his team compiled, which looked into the factors contributing to Bradford’s high car insurance prices.

His survey went to 15,000 residents and he was inundated with responses about car insurance costs.

Ward added: “We’ll be going back to these respondents to ask them to form part of our local working group.”
