Organ Donation Question For Drivers

People submitting an application for a driving licence over the internet now have to answer a question about organ donation.
Those applying online will have to declare whether they want to add their name to the NHS Organ Donor Register or put off making a decision on the matter.

The new application process has been launched in a bid to get more people signed up to become organ donors. Currently 29% of people in the UK are on the register but research has revealed that a far greater proportion of the population are in favour of organ donation.

Previously, would-be drivers were able to skip over a question on donation during the online application process.

However, the new system means that they can choose to either register for donation, state that they have already signed up or select an option which says "I do not wish to answer this question now".
