The subject that most couples argue about while they're in the car is how fast the vehicle is travelling, a survey has revealed.
Almost a quarter (22%) of those questioned in the poll by online used-car channel, Tesco Cars, said speeding was the topic they argued most with their partner about while in the car. It beat getting the directions wrong, which 18% said they squabbled about, tailgating at 13% and parking ability, at 5%.
Both sexes said they kick up a fuss about their partners driving faster than the speed limit. Some 21% of female motorists said it was the most likely thing to start an argument, with one in four men saying it could spark a row.
Children playing up in the back seats was given by 3.9% of those surveyed as a cause or arguments, while slightly more than one in 10 said their other half's aggressive behaviour behind the wheel was a source of conflict.
The number of motorists who argue about speeding was at its highest in the Midlands, where 55% of those quizzed said it caused arguments, compared with just one in seven of those polled in London.
