The new Up city car from Volkswagen could attract more buyers after its low insurance ratings were announced.
Two models, the 1.0-litre 60PS Take Up and the Move Up, qualify for the lowest possible insurance rating - group 1E.
The increased performance models, the 70PS High Up, White Up and Up Black, even qualify for a group 2E rating despite their higher specifications.
Up cars also include ABS, six airbags and the 5-star Euro NCAP rating and Move Up vehicles come with ESP as standard.
Motorists can also pay an extra £225 for an emergency braking system to be fitted which will stop the car automatically if it notes a crash could occur below 18mph.
First deliveries of the Up are expected in March 2012 and prices start at £7,995 for the 60PS Take Up.
