Providing out-of-the-ordinary benefits for customers has helped Kia secure an award for the way it handles its used-car business.

Motoring magazine Auto Express has named the company as presiding over the best used-car scheme of 2011.

The company's seven-year, owner-transferable warranty was singled out for praise: those owning a used car get the same manufacturer's cover as someone signing up for a brand new vehicle.

Kia Motors's John Hargreaves said: "When we launched our approved used car scheme we set out to ensure it really did represent the best possible deal for customers, so we're obviously very proud that this been recognised by Auto Express with this award.

"Resetting our pioneering seven-year warranty back to new when you buy an approved used Kia really differentiates us from other schemes. It means that a Kia could be under warranty for some eight-and-a-half years in total."
