Annual car insurance premiums can be slashed by more than a third thanks to a new high-tech gadget, manufacturers have declared.

A new in-car camera, launched by accident management firm Mycamerawitness, records and retains data from every journey undertaken.

The company claims this allows young drivers to give their insurance provider evidence of their safe and careful driving, leading to reductions of up to 35 per cent in the rate of cover.

The unobtrusive high definition camera can also help in the event of accident as evidence can help insurers quickly establish responsibility and process claims more quickly.

For a limited period Mycamerawitness is giving away the camera as part of a motorist protection pack, worth up to £320, with every personal injury claim it accepts.
