A man has been banned from driving after he was caught using two mobile phones at the wheel.

David Secker, 34, was stopped by police after they saw him making a phone call with one hand and apparently sending a text message with the other while driving on a 70mph dual carriageway.

The officers who pulled Secker over had to wait for him to finish his call before he spoke to them.

Secker was handed a 12-month driving ban and fined £150 at Norwich Magistrates' Court.

Denis King, prosecuting, said: "He was seen holding a mobile phone to his right ear and as he moved closer the officer saw he was holding another phone in his other hand as though he was texting."

Secker claimed he was reading a number over the phone from the other mobile screen.

Simon Nicholls, defending, disputed claims that his client had been driving his Vauxhall Tigra with his knees.

Secker, who was also given a total of 14 points on his licence, said: "I think the magistrates treated me fairly."
