Drivers who love fish and chips or the TV show The Only Way Is Essex can now show their devotion on the road - through a personalised number plate.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has revealed that CH11 PPY and TOW 111E plates are among those going under the hammer at its first sale of the year on February 1.

Other plates being auctioned at the three-day event at Stratford Manor Hotel near Stratford-upon-Avon include H15 MUM and H15 DAD.

The DVLA said the plates - which each cost £900 to reserve - could make perfect gifts for Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Jody Davies, DVLA personalised registrations' events manager, said: "We always manage to come up with an incredible array of personalised registrations to suit all tastes and, with reserves starting from as little as £250, this auction is no exception."
