Fiat Stilo insurance

The Stilo was seen by critics as a manufacturing disaster and was only produced for six years. However, a lot of consumers would disagree with this sentiment.

It’s available in both a 3 and a 5 door model, the 5 door being more family friendly. It is also available as an estate, Fiat Stilo MultiWagon, if you’re after a bit more space.

As the Fiat Stilo is no longer in production, you can only buy them second hand. If you are buying a used one, double check its service history to prevent any problems when transferring ownership.

Reliability Index gave the Stilo a lower than average score with regards to its reliability and repair costs, which makes it more important to consider being covered for accidental damage. This score is pulled together using the Stilo's average mileage and lifespan as well as its average repair cost and the amount of time it is off the road.

Have a look at the table below for information on insurance groups and tax brackets to help work out your budget.

For the eco-conscious, maybe consider the 1.9 litre diesel which is one of the greenest Stilo models.

Fiat Stilo: The Facts

  • Manufactured: 2001 - 2007
  • Class: Small family car
  • Predecessor: Fiat Bravo/Brava

One purpose of the Fiat Stilo was to be a successful replacement for the Fiat Bravo and the Brava. Due to their continuing popularity, however, the Stilo was later succeeded by the brand new Fiat Brava in 2007.

The styling of the Stilo received mixed reviews with many critics and enthusiasts criticising it as being too bland and too “German looking”, which is somewhat ironic as the preceding Bravo/Brava had been criticised for looking too Italian.

Like the other Fiat models, there were options to make it tech savvy, e.g. “Easy Go”, which was just a push button to start the car and is highly popular in cars today. Models could also include anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic brake force distribution and emergency brake assist. Safety wise, the Stilo performed highly in the Euro NCAP test scoring 4 stars for both adult and child occupants.

It was the first car worldwide to use the TRW Column-Drive Electric Power-Assisted Steering which was then introduced in the Nissan Micra and the Renault Megane. The Fiat Stilo Abarth model has also been popular in rallying too. It even took part in the Wales Rally GB in our hometown, Cardiff.
