Is your car full of clutter? Then it's time to tidy up! Nanny Pat from The Only Way Is Essex has some top tips for keeping your car in mint condition:
1. Daily De-clutter
Start by removing all unnecessary items from inside your car. This includes books, shopping bags, gym kits, food, CDs, and anything else you don’t need. Also check the car boot for clutter such as an old raincoat or broken umbrella. I always say to Jess and Mark – keep a spare carrier bag handy in the glove compartment. When your leave your car at the end of the day put all your rubbish in the bag and throw it away at home.
2. An in-car hoover is your secret weapon
Use a stiff brush to sweep the front and back seats - this gets rid of loose dirt before you vacuum them. Once you have tackled the seat, remove the car mats, lay them on the floor outside your car and give them a good vacuum. Also clean the car floors, not forgetting to move the seat forward to access all the debris.
3. Car beauty on the inside
Use a clean damp washcloth to wipe the dashboard, steering wheel, console, and interior trim, rinsing the cloth as soon as it becomes dusty or grimy. To get rid of any fake tan stains you might need a bit of extra elbow grease! Wipe out the vents, the inside door panels and the seat belts to get rid of all those sticky fingerprints and make up smudges.
4. Window of opportunity for a clean car
Use a fresh cloth and clean soapy water or window washing solution to clean the car's inside windows and mirrors. Wipe them clean with a softy dry cloth if there is a residue. You can use a cotton bud to clean crevices, nooks and ledges, especially on the dashboard or near the speakers where dust and crumbs gather.
5. Use your common scents
To air your car, keep the car windows down and doors open as you work. You may want to hang a deodoriser on the rearview mirror, next to the furry dice. When finished, your car should feel and smell fresh and clean, and more importantly it should be a safer car!
