Porsche to target younger market

A younger audience is being targeted by German sports car manufacturer Porsche under a plan to produce a new SUV vehicle.

With the working name Cajun, the new model is expected to be smaller than the Cayenne, the firm's most successful model.

However the new car is likely to have eye-wateringly expensive car insurance costs.

The compact SUV market includes the BMWX3 and the Audi A5, and will soon include the Range Rover Evoque.

Porsche said: "The Cajun will have a very positive impact with its typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility.

"As an attractive entry model in the Porsche world, the Cajun will attract new and even younger customers to the premium brand along with the Boxster, the market leader in the segment of two-seater, mid-size sports cars."
