Footballer Banned For Speeding

A driving ban will mean hefty car insurance premiums in the future for Blackburn Rovers full-back, Pascal Chimbonda.

After being clocked speeding twice - 82mph in a black Cadillac and 91mph in a Porsche Cayenne - his licence has been kicked into touch under the totting-up procedure.

The Premier League star will also pay £2,185 in fines and court costs imposed by Northallerton magistrates after he initially denied the charge at Grantham Magistrates' Court.

They heard how he broke the 70mph limit on the A1 near Newark, Nottinghamshire, in October 2008 and again on the A19 near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, in January this year.

Chimbonda, 30, of Loughton, Essex, did not appear in court and was not legally represented.
